Health and Offender Partnerships

Our Health and Offender Partnerships programme acts as the Department of Health Regional Presence for Offender Health in the North East.

The programme supports:

  • the introduction of policy, and
  • the development and sharing of best practice.

The programme supports the Strategic Health Authority, the Director of Commissioning of Offender Health and his team, the National Offender Management Service, the Director of Offender Management (DOM) and the Area Office of the prison service and other key partners, to deliver the agreed regional work programme for offender health.  It provides expertise on specific issues relating to Health and Social Care in the Criminal Justice System.

The programme has the following components:

  • Governance and performance management
  • Commissioning
  • Partnership working
  • Provider development and support
  • Information systems and management
  • National policy
  • Workforce and training
  • Service user involvement - understanding diversity
